To enhance the quality of government publication information service, RDEC constructs "Official Publications Echo Network"(OPEN, http://open.nat.gov.tw). This website is a one-stop portal for searching the government information. OPEN provides government publications, reports on business trips abroad, cross-database searching function, and database locator service. The most frequently-used database are integrated. With just one command, the user can search for information stored in 38 government information databases. This system is accompanied by a categorized linking guide service to more than 200 government databases, which makes it easy to search government information. The introductions of some useful databases are following:

• Government Publications Net (GPNet): Publishing information for all government publications is provided and then the publications can be purchased in 30 bookstores nationwide. Currently, RDEC has set up an integrated national bookstore for not only the general publications but also the electronic files and Print-On-Demand (POD) titles.



• Reports on Business Trips Abroad (ROBTA Net): It collects the reports submitted by R.O.C. government personnel who have been assigned to undertake business visits and research abroad. The database contains more than 86,000 entries since 1970.



• Government Internet Sources Page (GISP): The search engine of government websites with quick browse and full-text search functions helps the public search quickly for all kinds of information that has been published on-line.



• Other Web resources: National Laws and Regulations Database (provided by Ministry of Justice), Overall Statistical Information Database (provided by Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics), and many others.
